Buddha Jayanti with 9th Gakar Rinpoche

The 9th Gakar Rinpoche was born in the Himalayan region of Dolpo Nepal. His Holiness Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, the supreme head of Nyingma Tradition of Northern Buddhism, recognized him as the reincarnation of the former Gakar Rinpoche Kyab Dhampa (Incarnation of the Great Maha Siddha Virupa). He was formally enthroned in his predecessor’s main seat in 2011 by H.H. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche.

Gakar Rinpoche started his basic education with his great-grandfather Hungtram Rinpoche and entered Shechen Monastery, for further studies. Under the guidance of H.H. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, he had the privilege to pursue his higher education with Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche near Paro Taktsang, Bhutan.

Currently, Gakar Rinpoche is in his final year of 10 years long Buddhist philosophical courses and serving as Chanting master (Uchung) as well as a lecturer at Shechen Monastic University in Kathmandu.
